126 Open Studio Residency Project: Helen Caird

126 Open Studio Residency Project

Helen Caird

April 18th - May 12th, 2012

Following its successful launch last year, 126 is pleased to announce that local artist Helen Caird will be undertaking this years Open Studio Residency Project in 126’s Queen Street gallery space this coming April and May.

During this period, the gallery will be transformed into an open studio, and the artist is invited to explore elements of their practice in this new context. The project will culminate as a short exhibition during the final week. The space will be open to the public during normal gallery hours for the duration of the project, and we would encourage members of the public to visit, to observe and converse with the artist at work. We hope that this will foster an environment where the public can engage with and gain a greater insight into the contemporary creative process.

Helen Caird is a recent graduate (2011) of Cluain Mhuire, G.M.I.T., with an honours degree in the discipline of Painting. Since leaving college, she has been involved in a number of shows which include the RDS Student Art Award Show, as well as its travelling exhibition (August - October 2011), the PrettyvacanT Dublin “Unused and Unloved” Exhibition (October 2011) and TULCA (November 2011). Helen is a founding member of The Kitchen Table Collective which formed in June, 2011. She is also the group’s representative (along with another core member) for the ADAPT initiative.

126 will be open to the public during normal gallery hours (Wednesday to Saturday, 1pm - 6pm) for the duration of the residency project.

Please join us for the closing reception on May 9th to see how the project unfolds.

Closing reception: Wednesday May 9th, 7pm
